    Beautiful edition of La Fontaine's fables. A classic that we never tire of. Jean de La Fontaine, a famous 17th century moralist writer, began by working for Fouquet. His writings were very often inspired by ancient works, of Aesop, Terence or Ovid, for example. His genius was to have known how to modernize these texts by adding his own morals. La Fontaine also published tales for adults. He was several times accused of licentiousness. In 1684, he was received at the French Academy. Illustrated by Joseph Hémard. Good condition.
